Welcome to my Live Casino Beginners guide

If you’re not quite sure what a Live Casino is then I’d recommend you read my Why Play at Live Casinos page. It gives a really good overview of what it’s all about and helps put into context the rest of this article.

If you’re happy to move on then I’ll explain the process and give you an insight into playing online with a few quick videos so you can see what it’s actually like. I’m going to use one example casino throughout this guide as it makes it easier for me.

Leo Vegas is one of my Best Live Casinos and I’ve picked them as they have the widest selection of game providers. They also have the largest set of games with stakes that range from low to hi. There is something to suit everyone.

The Live Casino Beginners Guide to finding a Live Casino

Perhaps easier said than done. I’ve chosen Leo Vegas Live Casino as our beginner’s guide example. You can also select one from my list of Live Casinos, that summarises all of the casinos I’ve reviewed.

Don’t just play anywhere, pick ones that have been reviewed and are recommended by real players.

Register an Account

You’ll need to register an account with the casino before being able to deposit and play with your hard-earned cash.

  • Make sure that you give accurate details.
  • At some point, you’ll be asked to prove your identity. For this you’ll need to provide:
    • A scanned copy of your id (Passport, Driver’s license, etc).
    • Something that proves your address, like a bank statement or utility bill.
    • A scanned copy of the deposit method you plan to use, e.g. a credit/debit card. A screenprint from a web wallet will also do.

This is all part of money laundering checks that online casinos are obliged to perform and is completely normal.

It’s known in the UK as Know Your Customer. (Hint – If you’re able, keep copies of your scanned documents as you’ll always need them when playing at different online casinos).

If the details on your account and identity don’t match you won’t be able to withdraw any winnings and they may be forfeited.

Select your Game / Software Provider

Leo Vegas has 6 Live Casino providers to choose from, so it’s a bit daunting which one to choose. An experienced player will know what software suits their playing style so will often choose casinos based on the software they have.

My advice is to start with Evolution Gaming. They have to widest set of games, a good range of stakes, and is available to players in most countries.

Leo Vegas also has a dedicated studio called Chambre Separee where you can play Blackjack and Roulette with their own dealers in a fully branded environment.

If you’re after one of their other games then you can choose one from the lobby.

Make a Deposit

paymentYou’ll be provided with a list of banking options, from Web Wallets like Neteller/Skrill or Debit Cards Like Visa/Mastercard. Choose whatever is most convenient for you. In the UK you won’t be able to use a Credit Card to deposit.

When you withdraw you’ll normally have to do so back to the same method that you deposited with.

Also, make sure you check whether there are any withdrawal fees. (Leo Vegas offers a number of free withdrawals a month. This can be extended as your VIP status increases due to your playing level.)

Select your Bonus

Normally when you sign up at a new casino you’ll be offered a welcome bonus of some description.

Very few of them can actually be used on Live Casino games so make sure you check out the T&C’s first. I’ve researched all the live casino bonuses so check them out to see what to expect.

Leo Vegas has a deposit match bonus. The wagering is 35 x your deposit. This means that you have to place wagers to the value of 35 times your deposit before you’re eligible to withdraw any winnings.

Live Casino games only contribute 10% to wagering.

If you deposit £100, you’ll be given an extra £100. You then have to make wagers to the value of 100 x 10 x 35 = 35,000 before you’re able to withdraw any winnings!

The minimum bet is £5 at the tables, so you’ll need to place a maximum of 7000 bets, which equates to about 233 hours of gameplay!

Start Playing

I’ve chosen the Blackjack table at Chambre Separee and have played a few hands so you can get the feel of the games and the many playing options.

Note that they have a full range of Blackjack Side bets (Bet Behind, Perfect Pairs, and 21+3). And That’s It. You’re good to go now.

However, if you don’t want to deposit your own money then checkout where you can play live casino games for free.
