Introduction to Playtech Jet Set Racing Roulette

Jet Set Racing Roulette is the latest innovation from Playtech for live dealer roulette with multipliers.

It’s a game of standard European Roulette that uses Two Roulette Wheels and Virtual Sports events to create multipliers that apply to all inside bets on each wheel.

Your job is to place your initial bets on a standard betting grid and then pick from a list of contestants who will come first and second in a Virtual Race for each wheel. If you guess one or more correctly, you’ll generate multipliers for each wheel, which applies to all inside bets.

At first glance, the game looks as confusing as hell, and with a minimum game round time of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, it’s not the quickest game of Roulette you’ll ever play.

But, the two wheels give you two chances to win, and the multipliers can stack up to deliver a maximum payout of 2499x for a straight-up number win.

In this review, I’ll explain how to play Jet Set Roulette, discuss some playing strategies – particularly for picking the winners in the Virtual Sports events and give my verdict on this new gameshow/live betting experience by Playtech.

Overview of Jet Set Racing Roulette

Before I explain how to play Jet Set Racing Roulette, let’s look at the components that make up the game.

Getting your head around these will help you learn how to play more quickly and get more enjoyment out of the game.

  • It’s just a game of European Roulette. Everything else you see builds the multipliers you might be lucky to have as your payout.
  • You only place your bets on only placed on one betting grid. These are then split across two betting grids/wheels, identified in the game as the Teal Wheel and Orange Wheel.
  • A Virtual race runs for each Roulette Wheel, where picking the Winner or second place will generate a multiplier payout for the inside bets of that wheel. The more accurate your predictions, the higher the multiplier will be.
  • The base payout for a straight-up bet is 23:1, Split 11:1, Line 3:1, Corner/Basket 5:1, and Street 7:1.
  • The maximum multiplier payout is 2499x on a straight-up bet.
  • The presenter spins both roulette wheels. You benefit from the outcomes of both wheels if you have a winning bet.
  • A game round takes about two and a half minutes.
  • There are four types of virtual aces – Horse Racing, Trotting, Speedway and Greyhounds.
  • RNG powers the Virtual Races – they are not live-action.
  • The RTP is 97.30%.

Creation of Multipliers from the Virtual Races

The creation of the multipliers needs some explanation as it’s a vital component of the game.

There is a Virtual Race to create multipliers for each of the wheels.

At the start of the game round, one of four race types can be selected:

  1. Trotting Race – which has eight horses.
  2. Motor Bikes – with four bikes in the race.
  3. Greyhounds with six dogs.
  4. Horse Racing – with six horses.

The same race type gets used for both of the roulette wheels.

Your job is to select from the participants who will come first and second in each race.

To help you choose, each participant has a star rating for form and a multiplier value. Note: the favourites tend to have lower values.

  • If you get the First position, correct, you get that multiplier. Guess the second one correctly, and you get that multiplier.
  • If the second place comes first in the race, that also counts as a correct guess, and you win that multiplier.
  • Guess both correctly; the multipliers are combined.
  • If you guess both races correctly, the Jet Set Multiplier becomes available, and you get a boosted multiplier for each wheel.

How To Play Live Jet Set Racing Roulette

There are three phases to the game.

  1. Betting time – where you place your roulette bets on the central betting grid.
  2. Virtual Races – To create the multipliers.
    1. Selection of the Virtual Race by the computer system.
    2. Players select first and second place for each race.
    3. The first race runs, creating the multiplier for the Orange Wheel.
    4. The second race runs, creating the multiplier for the Teal wheel.
  3. Spinning the Roulette Wheels – The presenter spins both wheels, with the results determined by the balls dropping into one of the pockets on each wheel.
    1. The payouts are confirmed if you’ve won, including the multiplier if you managed to get one.

To re-emphasise, the multipliers apply to ALL inside bets. Depending on the bet type, the amount you receive could be a proportion of the multiplier if the Bet is not a Stratight-Up bet.

Betting Time

Betting time runs for 18 seconds, so you don’t have much time to place your bets.

You place bets on a central betting grid, and only when Betting Time has closed are the bets divided into two and placed on two betting grids. An Orange grid for the Orange wheel and a Teal Grid for the Teal coloured Roulette Wheel.

jet set racing roulette betting time

In this example, I have placed a Tier section Bet and a few straight-up bets.

Picking the Race Winners

The race type chosen was Motorbikes. Each wheel has a different race, and you get 18 seconds of betting time to select your rider who will come first and second.

jet set racing roulette picking the winners

In the first race, I chose rider two (44.4x) and rider four (31.4x), which gave me a combo multiplier of 77.7x

In the second race, I chose riders one (53.8x) and four (33.9x), giving me a combo multiplier of 127.1x and a Jet Set Multiplier of 268.2x.

Races are Run

jet set racing roulette race results

The race for the Orange Wheels occurs first, with the Teal Wheel race starting about 30 seconds later.

The first race resulted in me correctly predicting the 1st and 2nd Places, so I ended up with a Combo multiplier of 77.7x going forward to the Orange Roulette wheel spin.

My predictions failed to place in the second race, so I ended up with a default multiplier of 23x going into the Teal Roulette spin.

Dealer Spins The Wheels

jet set racing roulette spins the wheels

Once the races have finished, the multiplier values get locked in for each wheel spin.

The dealer spins the Orange wheel first, followed by the Teal Wheel a few seconds later, enabling you to watch the results of both spins as they come in.

Final Result & Payout

jet set racing roulette result

The Orange wheel spin landed on number nine, for which I got a payment of 77.7x.

The teal wheel result was number five, and I got a payment of $6.

My total outlay for the Bet was $13, and I won $44.85.

Odds, Payouts & RTPs

The Odds and Payouts for Jet Set Racing Roullete differ from the payouts you’d generally expect from a game of European Roulette because of the multipliers used in the game.

The multipliers need funding. The phrase “Robbing Peter to pay Paul” sums it up nicely. A small amount of each payout is taken from the inside bet payouts to fund the multipliers.

Clever maths and an RNG engine ensure the game delivers its overall RTP of 97.29%.

The game manages the value of the multipliers and the winners of the RNG races.

Only Inside Bets benefit from the multipliers. The payouts for Outside Bets remain unchanged.

Straight-Up bets pay 23:1 instead of 35:1. Splits pay 11:1 instead of 17:1, Street 7:1 instead of 11:1, Corners 5:1 instead of 8:1, and Line pay 3:1 instead of 5:1.

Of course, the multipliers make a difference, with the maximum possible payout being 2499:1, prorated for the remaining bets.

The table compares the payouts with standard European Roulette and Playtechs other Multiplier roulette game, Mega Fire Blaze Roulette.

Betting On Jet Set Racing Roulette

There are multiple ways to place bets. Playtech has provided a range of in-game tools to make it easy to place bets.

However, let’s start with briefly describing the types of bets you can place when playing Roulette.

Inside Bets

These refer to bets placed on individuals and ranges of individual numbers. They are called Inside Bets – because the numbers are inside the table layout. Remember, these bets benefit from the Multipliers.

  • Straight-Up – This is a bet on a whole number. You can place these on lots of numbers simultaneously. A multiplier win pays 100%.
  • Split Bet covers two numbers simultaneously – 50% of the chip’s value on one number and 50% on the other. A multiplier win pays 50% of the value of the multiplier.
  • Street – Covers three numbers in a row, each taking 1/3rd of the Bet. A Bettiplier win pays 33% of the value of the multiplier.
  • Corner Bet covers four numbers where they intersect. A multiplier win pays 25% of the value of the multiplier.
  • Line Bet covers six numbers. A multiplier win pays 1/6th of the value of the multiplier.

Outside Bets

These bets are lower payout bets that are even money bets. Place a chip for Odd/Even, Large/Small, and Red/Black.

Column bets cover a third of the table and pay 2:1, while the 1st/2nd/3rd 12 covers a third of the wheel. These pay 2:1.

Section Bets

The section bets are bets for sections of the wheel. They are often called the French Bets, Tiers, Orpheins, Voisins and Zero. These end up being Straight-Up and Split Bets.

Use the race track to place these and Neighbour Bets, where you select a number and the number of “neighbours to the number you want to cover. These are generally straight-up bets.

racetrack

Ways to Place Your Bets

The easiest way is straight onto the betting grid, placing chips on the numbers you want to cover.

The second way is to use the Race Track, a tool that helps place the section and neighbour bets.

Use the Statistics Charts – You can click on most numbers on the statistics charts to place a bet on the betting grid.

Using the Bet Creator – this offline tool allows you to create and save a betting pattern to your favourites. You can recall this Bet anytime you like.

Using the Lucky Dip function. If you’ve run out of ideas or want extra fun, the lucky Dip function will place 5, 7, or 8 random bets on the grid.

Strategies To Win on Jet Set Racing Roulette

This isn’t just a standard roulette game, as the game has two main parts.

The first part is the Virtual Races, where you have to pick the 1st and Second place winners to build the multipliers for the game.

So let’s start looking at these first.

Strategies for the Virtual Races in Jet Set Racing Roulette

The Virtual Races, the racers and Riders, Odds, and form information is all computer generated and uses an RNG engine to determine the result.

We know that the RNG engine brings the game in on its long-term RTP, so you would think that knowing the game’s history would help determine the race results!

Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. If it were, the game would be open to all types of abuse.

So this strategy is based on my experience playing hundreds of game rounds. What I can say is there is no set pattern to help you. But there are one or two bits of information that are worth knowing.

  1. The favourites don’t always win. Most races will have more than one in-form runner, or sometimes none. So that’s not helpful.
  2. Betting second place is better, as you’ll get a multiplier if the rider comes first. That’s not true of the first-place selection. If he comes second, you don’t win anything. Knowing this pick the second-place multiplier first, and you get two chances to win with this pick. The first place is less important, so I always pick the entry with the highest multiplier.
  3. The best multipliers come from combination bets, where you correctly guess first and second. More often, the base multipliers are not that high. You have a better chance of getting these in the races with four riders, the Motorbikes or six riders, the Greyhounds.
  4. I’ve succeeded in picking the riders randomly or letting the system pick them for you. It selects the riders with the lowest multipliers (is there a hint, or is it just limiting its exposure?).

Summary – Give the most thought to the second-place rider, as this wins if it comes First or Second.

Strategies for Betting On Jet Set Roulette

The more I play multiplier roulette, the better I refine my betting strategies. Moreover, all Inside bets qualify for multipliers, making the beating strategy easier.

So these are my golden strategy tips.

  1. Don’t bet on more than 50% of the betting grid. An excellent visual aid in the playing interface shows the percentage of the wheel covered by the current Bet. Use it.
  2. I like to bet sections, but any pattern that covers half the wheel is good. Make good use of all Inside bets.
  3. Make sure your total Bet doesn’t exceed what you could win. It’s obvious don’t bet 10 to win 6. Bet 10 to win 20!
  4. You can use an Outside bet to cover your losses for all the inside bets. Remember, this isn’t guaranteed to work, so ensure you have the bankroll to manage this tactic.
  5. Don’t bet more than 10% of your bankroll; 5% is better, as this will extend your playtime.
  6. Above all, have fun playing.

Jet Set Racing Roulette Statistics & Result Tracking

wheel dispersion results
wheel results
number results

The results statistics are available for both the Orange and Teal Wheels, but there is no retained information about the results of the Virtual Races.

The last 1000 results get used to compile the stats. There is a helpful slider where you can show fewer results if you’re more interested in seeing recent results and trends.

There are three results and statistics trackers.

  1. Percentages for sections of the wheel and Outside bets.
  2. Disperments of results across the wheel.
  3. Individual results for each wheel covering the last 1000 spins.

You can place bets using the statistics charts by clicking on any number.

The stats are available for both wheels.

Tips For Beginners

Jet Set Racing Roulette is a low-volatile game, meaning you’ll get regular wins if you bet sensibly. The multipliers will appear, but you must be lucky during the Virtual Races to get these.

Don’t worry too much about not getting them. Just make sure you stick to these tips.

  1. Don’t bet on more than 50% of the wheel.
  2. Guessing the first and second places for the Virtual races is OK. They don’t necessarily run to form!
  3. Don’t bet over 5% of your bankroll on one game round.
  4. Games rounds take at least 2 minutes and 30 seconds, so don’t play if you like a quick game.
  5. If you’re worried about the payouts, there are better games to play with Multipliers on Inside bets. Try Mega Fire Blaze Roulette. It pays better all around.
  6. Enjoy each stage of the game; it’s an immersive experience, so go with the flow.

How Jet Set Racing Roulette Compares with Other Multiplier Roulette Games

Jet Set Racing Roulette differs from other Multiplier Roulette games in several ways.

  1. Virtual Sport Races are used in the process to create multipliers. These are RNG-powered games and results.
  2. The base payout for Inside Bets is relatively low compared to games like Lightning Roulette & Quantum Roulette. A straight-up win pays 23:1, whereas the others pay 29:1.
  3. The multipliers are available on all Inside bets.
  4. Game rounds take a long time – at least 2 minutes and 30 Seconds. A typical game of Roulette takes about sixty seconds.
  5. Two Roulette Wheels are used, with your bets split between the two wheels. There is double the chance to win.
  6. The maximum multiplier is 2499x, which is reasonably good compared to other multiplier roulette games.

Popular Variations

Alternative multiplier Roulette games include:

  1. Lightning Roulette with a max payout of 500x. Only Straight-up bets qualify, which pay 29:1.
  2. Xxxtreme Lightning Roulette has a max payout of 2000x. Only Straight-up bets qualify, and they pay 19:1.
  3. Mega Fire Blaze Roulette has a max payout of 10,000x, All Inside bets qualify, and Straight-Up Bet pays 29:1.
  4. Super Stake Roulette, with a max payout of 5000x, includes a fee. Only Stratight-up bets qualify, which pay 29:1.
  5. XL Roulette max multiplier is 500x, with a straight-up payout of 17:1 for the most extreme version.
  6. Quantum Roulette has a max payout of 500x and a straight-up payout of 29:1.
  7. Nexus Roulette has a max payout of 5000x, with all Inside bets qualifying. Straight-Up bets pay 28:1.
  8. Gravity Roulette has a max payout of 500x, and all inside bets qualify with 29:1 paid for a Straight-up win.

Where You Can Play Jet Set Racing Roulette

My current favourite is BetVictor, which has an extensive range of live games from Playtech and other suppliers. They are an excellent one-stop shop if you enjoy live casinos.

Summary

I couldn’t understand Jet Set Racing Roulette when I first saw it at the ICE Conference in February 2023. Then when Edo Haitin, CEO of Playtech Live, explained the game to me, I kept thinking, “who the hell would play this?”.

Edo was so excited about the format and how good the game was that I promised to have a good look at it and play it lots.

Now I’m here revealing what I think.

First, I’m not an out-and-out Roulette player, so I have no affinity with the game.

I want a live game to challenge me, let me make some decisions, and ultimately provide a level of entertainment beyond just winning.

Well, Jet Set Racing Roulette does all of that!

Playtech has produced a truly unique game of live dealer multiplier roulette. The use of virtual sports to provide engagement and generate multipliers is inspired.

Splitting the game into two, with two wheels, doubling your chances of winning is also unique.

Put it all together, and you get a very long game of live Roulette that engages you from start to finish.

You have to play the game a lot to pick up the signals from the game. Information about the multipliers going into the spins should be made more prominent.

If you like quick games of Roulette, forget playing this, but if you want to try something different, it’s worth 30 minutes of your time.
